Dogs Fashion

Having a dog is just amazing! So much love, so much fun, so much sweet and touchy moments. But our dogs also require responsible attitude – they completely depend on us. Besides quality food, everyday walks, playing and giving the attention, some of them really need protection from harsh conditions.

Personally, I enjoy buying clothes for my dog, but I try not to overdo. Looking at all these fancy tops, bottoms, gyms, coats, I keep repeating by myself: “By him what he needs, not what you like.” Guided by this simply rule, I managed my dog to wear sweater when it's really cold, and my budget stayed unharmed.

Not every dog needs apparel and shoes, but some of them surely do. Dogs sensitive to weather conditions, including small dogs with shorter hair, many puppies as well as old dogs. But before purchasing clothes for your best friend, you should be aware of following issues. First, make sure that the garment is designed to protect your dog in the right way. Some pieces could be just for fashion, some could are designed more to be fashionable, than to be practical. Don't make mistake with fabric. Cotton-filled polyester and quilted nylon are intended for winter. Cotton knit and denim will do the job in fall and spring, and light polyester can be worn on fresh summer days.

Furthermore, buying dog shoes is not a fashion statement. Although a dog in shoes looks pretty creepy, some of them really need a pair – dogs working in dangerous environments, those with spinal injuries and dogs living in areas with extremal temperatures, facing thick snow or hot pavements. Many dogs have sensitive paws, easily hurt by snow, ice, salt and other materials used to reduce slippery asphalt.
